HOPE Worldwide x HWG: Empowering Communities Through Financial Literacy
On 20 September 2025, HOPE Worldwide Malaysia organized a special financial literacy workshop for its beneficiary families, designed to equip them with practical knowledge and tools for everyday money management.
HWG is proud to have supported this initiative together with our business associate, Maxima Advisory. Our appreciation goes to Mr. Marcus How, Business Development Director of Maxima Advisory, who was invited as the trainer for the session, titled “Bengkel Asas Pengurusan Wang: Urus Wang, Hidup Tenang.”
The workshop emphasized that financial literacy is not about being wealthy, but about:
- Gaining peace of mind in times of emergency
- Ensuring children’s education and future are secured
- Achieving personal milestones, whether big or small
Key takeaways shared with participants included:
- The importance of distinguishing between needs and wants
- Simple ways to track daily expenses
- Practical budgeting using the 60/10/15/15 principle
- Applying the envelope method for smarter spending
- Starting a personal emergency fund with just RM5–RM10 a week
- Leveraging government support schemes such as STR and MySalam
Despite the financial pressures they face, participants were encouraged to see that small, consistent actions can create meaningful change over time.
At HWG, we believe that financial literacy is the foundation of financial independence. We are delighted to collaborate with HOPE Worldwide and our trusted associate Maxima Advisory to create a positive impact in the community.
✨ Financial literacy today, financial independence tomorrow.
